America PAC is the super PAC Elon Musk founded in May 2024 to back Republican candidates, and in its first cycle it became one of the largest political spending operations in the United States. A super PAC is a political action committee (PAC) that can raise and spend unlimited money to support or oppose candidates, as long as it does not coordinate with their campaigns. America PAC registered with the Federal Election Commission (FEC), the agency that tracks campaign money, on May 22, 2024.
What is America PAC?
America PAC is an "independent-expenditure-only" committee, the formal name for a super PAC. It pays for its own ads, canvassing, and voter outreach instead of giving money to candidates, who by law can accept only small, capped donations. The committee is based in Austin, Texas, and lists Chris Young as treasurer. Its stated values are secure borders, safe cities, sensible government spending, a fair justice system, free speech, and the right to self-defense.
Why America PAC Exists
Elon Musk created America PAC to put money and door-knockers behind Republican candidates, above all Donald Trump, in the 2024 presidential race. He endorsed Trump on July 13, 2024, about half an hour after the assassination attempt in Butler, Pennsylvania.

How it Works
America PAC spends money in two main ways. Independent expenditures, the ads and mail that openly support or oppose a candidate, reached $173.7 million in the 2024 cycle. Operating expenditures, the cost of running the operation, totaled $87.5 million.
Much of the operating budget paid for field work, because America PAC took on the main door-knocking job for the Trump campaign in swing states such as Pennsylvania and Michigan. It also paid $100 to petition signers in Pennsylvania and ran a daily $1 million giveaway to registered voters in battleground states who signed its petition. At a November 4, 2024 court hearing in Philadelphia, a lawyer for the PAC said each winner had been selected to be a paid spokesperson, and the judge let the program run through Election Day.
Every day, from now through Nov 5, @America PAC will be giving away $1M to someone in swing states who signed our petition to support free speech & the right to bear arms! We want to make sure that everyone in swing states hears about this and I suspect this will ensure they do.

The Money Behind America PAC
Almost all of America PAC's money came from Elon Musk, who gave it about $75 million from July through September 2024 alone. In the 2023-2024 cycle it reported $263.5 million in receipts and $261.3 million in disbursements, which put it among the highest-spending super PACs of 2024.
America PAC Today
After the 2024 election America PAC turned to the April 1, 2025 Wisconsin Supreme Court race, a state contest that Susan Crawford won over the PAC's candidate, Brad Schimel, and in May 2025 Elon Musk said he planned to spend far less on politics. Through June 30, 2026 the committee reported $50.3 million raised and $52.3 million spent in the 2025-2026 cycle. About $87,000 of that went to independent expenditures, for two Florida Republicans who won special House elections in April 2025.
That changed in July 2026, when Elon Musk authorized $100 million to $120 million for a midterm field program of door-knocking, digital ads, and direct mail in at least 8 states. By September 23 the PAC had spent more than $3.7 million on ads, mostly digital and streaming, and it was targeting Senate races in Alaska, Iowa, Maine, Michigan, and Ohio. Its FEC reports from early October show that it also paid for mail in the Texas Senate race, for Ken Paxton and against James Talarico.
What Comes Next
The next milestone is the November 3, 2026 midterm elections, where America PAC puts its 2024 door-knocking model to work in Senate races.
The Bottom Line
America PAC turned Elon Musk's money into one of the largest independent spending efforts of 2024. Its spending follows Elon Musk's priorities: a pause on federal races through the first 18 months of the 2025-2026 cycle, then a midterm field program from July 2026.
